Recobot is a local-first screen recording extension for Chrome. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Recobot handles data.

1. Data Collection

Recobot does not collect, transmit, or sell personal data.

The extension does not collect:

Personally identifiable information
Browsing history
Search queries
Account, login, or authentication data

2. Local Data Storage

All recordings and related data are stored locally on your device.

Depending on the feature, Recobot may store data using:

Chrome storage APIs for preferences (e.g., toggles and settings)
Browser local storage for recorded video chunks and thumbnails

This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to any external server.

3. Camera & Microphone

Recobot may access your camera and/or microphone only when you explicitly enable related features and grant permission in the browser prompt.

Recobot does not access your camera or microphone in the background without your consent.

4. Data Usage

Locally stored data is used solely to provide core functionality, including:

Recording your screen (tab, window, or entire screen) based on your selection
Previewing recordings in the Library
Exporting recordings by downloading a video file to your device
Deleting recordings to free up local disk space

5. Data Sharing

Recobot does not share user data with third parties.

No analytics services, tracking scripts, or advertising platforms are used.

6. Permissions

Recobot requests certain Chrome permissions strictly to enable user-facing features:

tabCapture: To capture the screen source you choose to record.
activeTab: To interact with the current tab in response to your direct actions.
scripting: To enable optional effects (e.g., mouse highlight) when you turn them on.
offscreen: To support recording workflows that require an offscreen document.
storage: To save settings and preferences locally.

These permissions are used only to provide Recobot’s functionality and only in response to user actions.

7. Data Retention

All data remains stored locally until you delete it from Recobot’s Library or remove the extension.

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
